Default obd2 plug

Hey everyone, can anyone help me figure out this stupid plug problem. well first of all i took my 02 wrx to get smogged and the readings passed fine, but when it got to plugging in the scan tool or whatever they use their tool always read error, they asked if i unplugged my battery and i said yeah about 1000 miles ago lol, so now i do not know what to do...i have no cel or anything. i was also just browsing around under by the plug and i saw these 2 green male and female plugs, i just thought i'd connect them and see if that was the problem but when i did i started up my car and the cel was blinking..anyone know what that is? there were also 2 other plugs that i didn't plug in i was too scared to mess with them...well if anyone has any knowledge of this please let me know asap my registration date was due on the 12 so i've got to get this car with new tags. thanks.

See here regarding the green connectors, leave them alone-
