Default Will a 98 rs rear differential work on 02 wrx?

I have searched this and have had a hard time finding solid answers. Would a rear diff out of a 98 rs work on my 02 wrx? If so what would be the difference performance wise by going from the wrx to the rs diff?

No, it won't work. The 98 rs is a 4.11 rear diff and the 02 wrx is a 3.54 rear diff. It would also be poopier because the 98 rs is an open diff and the wrx is vlsd(viscous limited slip diff).

Thanks.. So to get this right... Do I need to have a 3.54 rear diff because I see all of these people converting to 3.9

The people converting to 3.9 are more than likely doing it so they can run a 6 speed tranny with a 1:1 center diff ratio.
