I have an 03' wrx drivetrain swapped into my 97' legacy, but wanted to see if an 05' LGT rear diff will bolt up the same as a wrx? So has anybody put an LGT diff into their wrx to change final drive?
I did search, but couldn't find the answer. Thanks!

If you are changing the rear final drive you will need to change your front final drive as well.
03 WRX has a 3.9 front and needs a 3.54 rear ring and pinion to work. |

Yeah, I'm planning on changing the front diff in the way of an 05' LGT tranny, which came with a rear diff, but just wanted to make sure it will work, or will I have to get a 2.5rs 4.11 or something.

legacy center diff is 1:1, not like wrx 1:1.1.
so if your legacy has 4.11 in front, get 4.11 for the rear. |

Custom mad tyte diff?
I have a complete LGT tranny out of 05', and it does have a 1 to 1 center, so I know I need a 4.11 rear end to match, which I have from the same 05' legacy, but just need to know if it bolts up the same as other R160's, or specifically the 03' wrx, because I have that in my car right now. I'm thinking it does, but just wanted to make sure. |

Just curious why you would think it doesn't fit? I have a 6 r160 in front of me with different ratios and from different years and are essentially identical.
As far as EJ based Subaru's go there are only two differences that could get you - Male VS female axle stubs (wont be a problem for the two cars you mentioned) Mounting studs of different lengths (if they are different its REALLY easy to swap them) |
