Thumbs up Bonneville EVO build in progress! aka another monster from AMS

UPDATE 08-05-2008 VIDEO IN POST 204

I am not sure if have posted this here.... so I thought what the heck. It’s a very unique build and I thought you guys might like to see it.

A few months back a very good customer and a good friend of the shop Tommy P. has decided to build a REALLY cool car for a unique form of racing. Tommy is no newbie to motorsports either. You might remember his red evo from a past sport compact car ultimate street car challenge. His car dominated just about every event until he had an oil pump failure on the last leg costing him the event.

Hes not one to be defeated though as he now brings his pride and joy to AMS to help team up with us on building a MPH monster! I will keep you all updated in this thread as we modify this EVO for some standing mile competition and to even compete on the Bonneville Salt Flats!

Here are some pics of the progress:

Is the intercooler inside the cabin? Wastegate/s? Looks like that thing is going to be a monster. Kudos!

Looks awesome, but it looks more like a time attack car than a bonneville car... how did he decide on the aero configuration? I would have thought he would have gone with an OEM bumper with a big skirt, and only a small gurney flap on the trunk. Something like this comes to mind:

What are your plans for a salt appropriate wheel and tire combo? An Evo with Moonies is drool inducing

The car came with the C-west front bumper and naturally it is not the bumper that we will run on the car. At this stage of the build the car might look more as a Time Attack car as it previously has been setup for road racing. The brakes have already been replaced with AMS Lightweight Drag brake kit F & R and if we will run Bonneville we'll need custom spun aluminum wheels.

There is a lot of work still left on the car and many aspects are still in question depending on the class the car will be run in. I will update you guys with pictures as the build progresses.

Also WG will be added to the manifold soon

Cheers

Rich
