Default is someone actually going to buy the new Baja?

I think they've topped the Pontiac Aztek with this one:

Default More like the Pontiac Every Day...

It has that body cladding just like Pontiac, too. I hope we see some advantages of this GM ownership some day, because this is pretty nasty.

Oh well...it'd have been better if it at least at some power!

I dunno... I think the WRX is ugly, yet people still bought it . I prefer to think of the Baja as "quirky" . I have a feeling all the people we used to own BRATs will be picking this thing up and that it will be rather popular... who knows?

Cool Real Subies don't care about looks!

Well in the truck world, ugly seems to lead to success
The Avalanche, Explorer SportCrac, Nissan Xterra are all selling well.
There's an execption tp every rule of course, can you say Aztec? I knew you could.

Subaru has always been about function, style only seems to confuse them...

The wheels look too small for a truck, the taillights are made for a sedan not a truck..heheeh, looks like a super long Legacy from the front..and an Outback from the side...geez =D Well, I'm sure people will buy it..hell, people bought Honda Civic's...jk I heard its only 165hp@5600RPM, 166lb/ft@4000RPM, same as the Subaru Impreza/Legacy...true? On http://www.subaru.ca under news they have the Subaru STX (Subaru Truck Xperimental) and it was listed to be supercharged. I'd like it if the Baja was supercharged, but, would I buy it? hell no.

You guys talk about boddy-cladding like GM invented it or something.

There's this other car that Subaru makes, it's extremely popular, it's called the... Outback? I know I know, it sounds crazy... But Subaru has been highly successful with it, and has had body-cladding such as this for years.

That is true.

Not to worry, the Baja has stirred up much controversy with the Brat owners such as myself. I think it may be marketed toward people that used to have a Brat. For me, I usually look at the practicality, then reliability of a vehicle.

Of course I may be a little one sided since I've had 6 Subarus dating from 1981 to 2001.

I think what's wrong with the Baja is this yellow color

Give it a better mature color and it'll look fine.

If you take the time to actually look at the specs instead of casting it off, you'd know it comes in more colors than Baja Yellow... 3 more colors in fact .

I love wagons. I've owned seven wagons to date. Subaru will sell a ton of these Baja's. Mark my word.

That's called over-design, but today's people love it. I liked the original concept of a extendable truck bed, very practical, but the appearance is....

Exactly!

And why do people keep bring up the ST-X? It was a concept. Does anyone ever expect a concept to go production as is?

Thumbs down

My opinion... I wouldn't buy one. If I wanted a pick-up, I'd get a full size one that can carry 4X8's. The Baja has no more space than a Legacy wagon and all your stuff get's wet - or stolen? Looks kind of cool for the first few days, then I think you say to yourself, "What the frig was I thinking?"

So what is up with that super long rear overhang? It's like they wanted to have a longer vehicle but didn't want to increase the wheelbase. They just added it all behind the rear tires. I think it will float. Looks like Subaru moved into the amphibious market. The next concept is going to not have any paint at all. The dealer will just ask what your body cladding color choice will be. People will be trading colors on the internet since you can just pop it on and off, like cell phone covers. That and it is a multi utility vehicle because you can pop the side cladding off and use it as a table, a sled, a boat, the roof of your tent, it folds into a portable outhouse... the list goes on. Personally I think that paint is pretty. I guess wham-o frisbee plastic is more utilitarian, you don't see the rust that is eating your car from the inside out... Looks pretty as new. Lets just say it has a serious ghetto booty.
Damn! Look at that booty, its like POW!!!
