Default Bank 1 Sensor 2

I have a 96 Legacy Brighton, 140k miles, 2.2L auto. Mods are: Removed "intake muffler," and the brakes, struts/springs, and swaybars from a 98 OB, and some WRX 16" rims with 205/60's on them. Not that I think any of these things matter as they've been done for a while and I just recently started having this issue.
Problem: I get a O2 code for bank 1 sensor 2. So I have my wife get the downstream O2 from work (she works at a NAPA warehouse and gets everything really cheap) and I replace it and reset the comp. I got the code back and tried a tune up. No go there too. So I'm at a loss. I called the dealer and they say I pulled the wrong O2, but couldn't tell me which was the right one. The only thing I can think to do is replace the 2 forward sensors, but that is a last ditch effort. I am looking for any info on this that might point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

What exact O2 sensor error is it? Did you get a generic O2 sensor? There might be a short in your O2 sensor harness.

Good ? They used to let me read the codes now they come out and state it. No # just what it is. I just reset it again, I'll get it read again when it comes back on- warm engine steady RPM for a while ei. highway driving.

Even if they stated it it would be nice to know what exact error it is. Is it:
- Circuit Malfunction?
- Heater Circuit? Out of range, slow, etc.?
- O2 signal out of range?
- Cat inefficiency?
