Default Hid Retro Fit Kit Question

Ok first off I know every ones opionions on the HID retro fit kits so I dont really need to hear them if you dont have any usefull info pretaining to my question then please dont share any of your throughts that said heres my question.

I have a 2002 bugeye and I installed a 9007 hid retro fit kit with 6000k bulbs. I figured before even comeing here that the drls would cause trouble so I 86ed those. But I have noticed somthing odd after installing the kit my fogs are not working correctly. When I hit the fog light switch the high beam indicator come on but very faintly and the fogs do not come on. If I turn off the lights then turn on the fog switch then turn the lights back on the fogs come on with the lights and the high beam indicator still lights up faintly. does any one have any insight on this issue?

do you have your drls properly disabled? this means unplugging the connector under the dash, not just the resistor in the engine compartment.

also, are you using a relay harness to power the ballasts? doesnt sound like it, and i would highly suggest it.

you may be able to get more help if you described how you hooked up those ballasts.

dissabled the drls by unplugging that connector and I used the factory wiring to drive my HIDs.The Hids come on correctly its just my fogs that are behaving oddly I saw in the hid faq a few other people with the same problem but no real results... My kit did not come with a relay...

Sounds like some wiring is crossed or something... does it happen all the time now? Try swapping the halogen bulbs back in and see if it doesn't go away, if it does it's something with the 9007 connector most likely...

The wiring seems to be wrong on the HID kit, its probably setup different, because they are "universal"

Hmm the kit I purchased was a generic kit with 2 empty 9007 connectors tossed in the box which I had to insert the pins into in the correct locations. I located the proper ground and hot pins in the car side 9007 connectors using a test light while I had the head lights on low beams and inserted the pins into the 9007 female plugs accordingly. Pretty much no room for error here since both head lights work as expected I really cant begin to explain why the fogs are behaving so irraticly it doesnt add up. I havnt done any thing with the fog light circuit. I am thinking maybe the absence of high beams in the system/the relay that disables the fogs when the high beams are on is some how responsible for my issuse.

it sounds like you have some things crossed up.

there is only one positive pin and 2 switched ground pins. this confuses alot of people.

keep in mind that the center pin is a common positive. one of the outer pins is a switched ground for low beam. the other outside pin is a switched ground for high beam.

are your high beams working? or did you get a kit that elimiated the high beam?

I have the kit that eliminated high beams. Low beams are working fine kit installation isnt the issue I checked with a test light the for the proper low beam ground and power.using the center pin for power and the the correct outside pin for ground as per what I found probing for ground and power in the plugs.

hmmm, i dont know what the problem could be then. it sounds like yo have them hooked up properly.

i would use a relay harness. you may be drawing too much from the stock circuit. maybe that is whats screwing up the fog lights... it most likely has something to do with the way the fog system is wired to the headlight system so that the fogs cant come on with the highbeams.

there may be power leaking past the fog system diode that is near the headlight combo switch.

again i would try using a relay to see if it clears it up.

contact lightwerkz.

wiring a relay is not too difficult... but if youre willing to pay for one, buy it from caesar.
