Default Ok something is seriously wrong with my Hydra 2.17

So this is whats going on. This happened to me 3 times so far since I had this EMS.I bought it used off another forum member that was a mistake. When ever the car feel's like it it will jump straight to about 4400rpm's and bounce like it's stuck in 2 step. Need I mind you my 2 step isn't hooked up because it didn't seem to work.

Also my wideband AFR was off Phil and andrew told me to move the sensor since it wasn't in a good location. I had it in the stock O2 location on a Ultimate Racing GT35R downpipe. So I welded a new bung installed the sensor and seems to be doing the same thing. My guess is theres a short somewhere. I sent the box to Hydra before I noticed this issue and they said everything was ok with it and updated it for me. I think it was already updated since Phil swore it had been but andrew sad it wasn't so i said ok well just update it.

No I did have my LC hooked up at one time didn't work so I unpluged it. Junior tuned my car and did a awesome job as far as making power goes. car is hard to start up but i herd all the older boxes are like that.

Anyone know what my issue could be? Can it be fixed or do I need a new EMS?

Did you actually disable the anti-lag and moving launch in the setup screen as well, or just disconnect the LC harness?

Also, what sort of battery voltage does your hydra read with the car idling?

Also, the launch control will not raise the RPMs by itself, it is merely a 2-step rev limiter.

If your RPMs are increasing, it's most likely either a voltage issue, a wiring issue, or the DBW is tripping the failsafe.

well i fixed the launch control and it works ok I did notice that when i set the launch limit to 5500rpms it goes to like 6200rpm's I droped it to 4864 on the software and it shows 5500rpms on the tach when testing it out.

I think it's ether in the DBW table maybe needs some more tuning maybe there a glitch in there. Or the Sensor on the gas pedal or DBW itself in the throttle body. I never tapped into any of those wires. So I think I'm making some progress I'll see if I get the random raise in RPM's

I noticed today when I went out and started the car the rpm's jumped to 1500 and there was no type of control with the throttle It was like someone unpluged the DBW plug. I shut the car off and started it up and it seems fine.

hasn't done it again just yet I'm going to keep a look out for it. Only seems to do it when its idling for a minute or so so i'm going to let it run whenever.

Buying used is always a crap shoot. It's possible that unit was fine at one point but I know the unit you purchased was on a car that was hit by lightening which destroyed much of the electrical system on that particular car. The Hydra was checked out but it's possible over time the stress those components received is causing premature failure.

WBs do go bad over time especially if they have ever been installed into an exhaust without being powered....even for a brief moment. Also check the harness for cuts or bad connections as this can cause a problem. In all the years of dealing with Hydras the Hydra's WB circuit is either dead or it's not...nothing in between. So if it's an intermitent issue it's likely the sensor or cable.

Good luck.

Hey phil the wideband seems to be ok now. I installed it correctly.

I also got the Launch control working. Hard a bad ground. The other issues still haven't came up yet. do you think it was just because I had the accessory harness set up with a bad grounding spot?
