Default Need Help rewiring GPS battery pack to car charger

I took this thing on a buisness trip and in a rush to make a plane I threw it in a bag with the cord plugged in. To my when I got home I realized the cord broke off and the GPS won't charge anymore.

It's a megallan meistro 3200

Took it apart and found that the connector broke off the mother board:

So I want to try and fix it before I blow another $170 on a new one. I want to do something like this:

So does anyone know how I can splice the cable and what to connect it to? Would I be able to connect the wiring from the charger directly to the battery?

Any EE info would be appreciated

You cannot bypass the charging circuitry on the board and go right to the battery. Li-Ion cells require a highly regulated charging cycle or they will overheat and possibly explode. Either have it repaired properly or suck it up and buy a new unit.

Yep.
Sorry to bear bad news but that's how it is. You'll be better off buying a new GPS than setting your car on fire.
