Exactly. Everytime I see a GTP they are trying to impress someone. They always have that damn pulley, and maybe 14 chrome pep boys rims.

The turbo neon does't have **** on the GTP.

I borrowed my buddies GTP for a couple days, I ran the **** out of it everywhere. It's too bad, that could've been a really nice car, got almost 30mpg. Motor is solid, trans is known to go if driven in "soft" mode, problem was the whole car was falling apart around the motor. I bet if you check the autotrader, half of them will have the back windows crooked and half way down because the regulator failed.

If for some reason I had a GTP because I got cheap and I had not yet got around to selling it, I definitely would not drive around with other GTP owners in any sort of club or organization.

If douchebags drive the Grand Prix GTP, then who drives the Grand Prix GXP?

From Car and Driver:

Quote:
Here is a car that depicts the difference between soccer and football, between Peter Pan and Terry Bradshaw. The GXP has brute force that can be summoned instantly, a pugnacious snarl, and a chassis that didn't go to Harvard. Very American, and very likable in a roughhouse, bawdy sort of way. If you wear your baseball cap backward, this Bud's for you. Look for owners to drive by in the hip-hop position, heads behind the B-pillar. And yet the GXP corners and handles well, isn't overly teched up like the Euros, looks bad-ass in black, and the price is right. It's one of the most memorable sporting American sedans I've driven in a gawdawful long time.

There is a good chance they'll all :

Quote:
In March of 2008, GM announced a plan to recall all 1997-2003 Grand Prix models with the supercharged 3.8 liter engine (GTP and GTX models) due to a problem which causes fires in the engine compartments of these vehicles. Over 230 fires were reported. This recall will affect over 200,000 vehicles. GM sent a letter to owners of these vehicles on March 13, 2008, instructing owners of these vehicles not to park in garages or carports until the problem is resolved.

I've had very bad luck with Grand Prix drivers. I hate to generalize, but wow...I think generalization is possible here.

Another Pontiac ****box demographic left out of the above discussion: the trying-to-be-sophisticated redneck. This species has acquired just enough money in his sleazy sales job to purchase a new Grand Prix, a 54" TV, and some spiffy polo shirts, but not enough money to avoid looking like a classless dickbag while said balding 43 year old is blasting Staind at a red light looking to impress the junior college whore driving the Focus in the next lane.

"Hey, sweetie, you ever tasted an expensive cognac?!"

Haha, all I know is this (true story).

Back in 1999 we took my brother in-laws then new Buick Regal GS on a road trip from Texas to California. Car probably had less than 7k miles on it and has the same 3.8L supercharged motor as a GTP.

Along a deserted portion of I-10 in West Texas or New Mexico while I was driving some asshat in a BMW was tailgating so close I couldn't even see his license plates. I was even in the slow lane, the fast lane was completely empty and was even cruising at a brisk pace of around 75-80mph. The guy would never go around me and I was getting pissed.

I finally slowed down to around 45mph, guy started flashing his lights a few times then made a NASCAR out of the draft type move for the fast lane. Came up next to me, gave me the finger and started yelling some BS. At that time I noticed he was in a new BMW M3 which looked to have the luxury package. He floored it and started to go along his way. I was like "oh hell no!" So I gassed it too. What really surprised me is that from that 50ish roll to around 90 or a 100 I had pulled about 1 1/2 - 2 cars on him.

I then slowed down, and stuck my hand out the window giving him a thumbs down sign as he blew by me. At that point my bro in-law was really glad I suggested the Buick GS instead of a Toyota Camry .

Could be worse. They could be puposely hunting down the widest wrong offset wheels they can find, and posting pics on some internet forum. Ussually they are parked because the tires would rub if they drove 4 inches.

There's an asshat that comes to the local tuner meets every Tuesday in a gtp. He finds it necessary to go through every row of cars and floor it so people can hear his ****ty s/c whine. I hope he hits someone one day and gets his redneck ass beat.

The only good thing about the GTP was the fact that so many are wrecked and you can transplant the motor into this:

Disclaimer: I do not condone racing on the street and this is not my car, nor is it me racing in the vid. But it's the sound coming out of that Fiero is awesome so I had to post it.
