News TurboXS 2008 WRX Stage 1 & Stage 2 Results!

Finally we have our 2008 WRX Hatch Cat-back System. This was our final piece to able to put a complete Turboback Exhaust on the car out of production parts and continue on our mod development path. In stock form the car lacked punch. It was almost useless to take it over 5500 rpm. Ok so Stage 1 there is still not much of a reason too but it is better than stock. :-) We put the car on our in house dyno and our baseline results were as follows:

Baseline Peak Numbers 213.8 ft. lbs. and 193.7 whp

Modifications:

Completely Stock 2008 WRX

Now that we have a starting point it was time to install and Tune our Delta ECU. The Delta Installation was pretty simple especially since we went to a smaller modular harness and ECU combination. As usual its a plug and play!

We ran 16.5 psi peak, the car responded well despite the itty bitty baseboard heater Subaru decided to call an Intercooler. The combination of leaning out the AFR and Turning up the boost net us a 47 ft. lbs gain and 25 whp gain peak. As you can see by the dyno plots the gains are solid throughout out the curve.

Modifications:

Engine Management Delta-003

The car drives well with the combination. Very smooth driving around town just more power everywhere. It is deceiving since in almost any gear the car can accelerate briskly. Still very quiet honestly it would be hard to tell that car was modified except for the new found giddy up.

Cat-back only pictured!

The Turboback features our 4 inch Bellmouth Downpipe design. Which has worked very well in the pass for our car we coupled it with a cat-less racepipe. Although you can purchase the Turboback with a high flow metal matrix converter. The 2008 WRX Hatch needed a cat-back solution as the exhaust exit is now on the right side of the car. So this required a complete redesign from the bottom up. We went with more of a refined look as the smooth lines of the hatch really want you to think it has grown up a little bit from previous models. The 4 inch slash cut tip fills the bumper nicely without being too aggressive.

Pics: Tip Right Side / Rear of Car

Here are a few pictures of the exhaust with the car on the lift. To get a complete idea of the exhaust system layout.

Pics: Installed Underneath

The installation of the Turboback was pretty straight forward. The car is back on the dyno this time with its new roar. It was not loud at all for a completely cat-less exhaust. We removed the Delta ECU from the vehicle to see what the car would do without any tuning. To my surprise the car made strong gains for exhaust only. The final horsepower output number are 243 ft. lbs and 223 whp. Not bad actually a little better than the Stage 1 results. A 29 ft. lbs. and 30 whp gain over a stock 2008. Not bad for a few pipes!

Modifications:

Turboback - W08H-TBE-RP Includes: 4 inch Bellmouth Downpipe, 3 inch Cat-less Race Pipe and a 3 inch Cat-back Exhaust with a 4 inch Slash-cut Tip

After reinstalling and Tuning the Delta running a peak of 17 psi. The gains were pretty serious, a pretty impressive peak torque of 307 ft. lbs and 246 whp a 93 ft. lbs. and 54 whp gain. This is the ticket!

Modificatons:

Engine Management - Delta-003

Turboback - W08H-TBE-RP Includes: 4 inch Bellmouth Downpipe, 3 inch Catless Race Pipe and a 3 inch Cat-back Exhaust with a 4 inch Slash-cut Tip

So there it is .... Stage 1 and Stage 2!

note: We had some dyno shake issues with the test car so we couldn't go full throttle at 2k rpm which is why it shows a loss of hp.
Also waiting on video content to finish being edited.
Special Thanks to Matt H for letting us use his 2008 WRX Wagon.

It feels like a whole new car. Pulls hard through every gear and can actually get out of it's own way now. I was really impressed with the whole process and won't be going anywhere else.

Downpipes and Racepipes are available now! The racepipe photos are in the process of being uploaded to the site.

Just to give you guys a heads up. If you buy the Downpipe you will need to purchase the WS08-RP (2008 WRX Racepipe). It is required to connect to your factory cat-back or cat-back.

TurboXS is located in Gaithersburg, MD. Unfortunately we do not have cat-back for the Sedan yet. Everything else we offer fits. But you can do what would essentially work out at as our stealthback. Which would include the Downpipe and Racepipe (WS-DP and WS08-RP) but you could keep your stock cat back. We have a few STI's and our shop Sedan running around with this setup locally as Paikman Jon states above.

08 Sedan/STI Available parts:
Downpipe - WS-DP
Racepipe - WS08-RP
ECU -Delta-003

Accessories:
Intake - WS08-CAI
Blow Off Valve - WS08-RFL
Hybrid Valve - WS08-HYB
Bypass Valve - WS08-RBV

Honestly you can't go wrong with a Turboback or the Delta ECU Stage 1.

The car is only reving to 6500? I think you screwed up and posted one of my old dyno plots from the wagon. Those are quite impressive #'s for a stage 2, heaps of torque.

Relatively rich in the midrange 10.8 or so and leaning out to about 11 - 11.3
