Default 02-3 seats in a 04, will they fit? are they lower?

First, Does anyone know if the 02-3 seats will fit in an 04? and
Second, Are they any lower? or more height adjustable?

I know this seat height issue has been discussed ad nauseum, but i had recently sat in an 02 wrx and noticed that the height adjustment seemed to allow for a much larger range.

Was this my imagination or is this really the case? I seemed like I had a solid 3+" of headroom in the 02, but in my 04 (w/ sunroof) i graze my head against the roofliner.

The reason I ask is because I really need to do something about these seats, with a helmet on my head is cocked at a pretty uncomfortable angle leading to me sitting in all sorts of strange positions during rallyX, which eventually do a number on my back at each event.

Is the only solution to this aftermarket seats?

thanks for the help

02/03 seats will bolt on. I don't know about the height difference, though, although I know when I had the adjuster set to the lowest it seemed pretty low. Not as low as my Brides though =p

If you're doing a lot of racing events you'd probably be better off with a reasonably priced aftermarket seat which will offer far more support than any OEM seat. Never underestimate the power of shoulder bolsters!

which Brides do you have?
are they comfortable enough for daily driving and long trips too? thats whats stopping me from getting dedicated buckets. And I feel like I don't want to spend $600+ on a reclining seat for a few years while the car is daily driven because eventually I'm going to put in a dedicated bucket and don't want to buy twice.

thanks for the info

I have the Ergo II for driver and a knockoff Brix II for passenger. The Ergo is perfect for me in terms of balance of support and comfort. I've daily driven on it for almost 2 years now and no complaints. For a daily I think you need to have a reclineable, I had Bride Zeta III Sport fixed buckets and they just killed my back driving everyday not to mention it was like a gymnastics event everytime trying to vault myself in and out of them. Pretty funny trying to see my passengers do it though haha.

Reclineables:

Bucket:

What you could do is buy a reclineable now for the driver seat, then when your car is just a track car or whatever later down the road just swap that over to the passenger side and put a bucket for the driver like you see in my second pic. Best of both worlds IMO.
