The cheapest and the best are not the same.

The CHEAPEST way would be one of the portable units you can snag at any Best Buy, Circuit City, Crutchfield, etc.... They use FM modulators, which can be staticy (sp?) but they work ok. If you can find one with a hard-wire FM modulator (not wireless), it will work better.

The BEST way would be with an aftermarket head unit with satellite radio tied directly in. For example, the Alpine CDA-9884 + the XM tuner and interface (and of course the wiring harness and pocket for installation). It will sound much better, because you'll have a better, more powerful head unit with SatRad tied directly in, and all your functions and controls will be right on the head unit, not to mention all the information being displayed on the screen. There are more benefits to an aftermarket head unit, but that should answer your question.

Not that satellite radio is CD quality either, but it also bears mention that anytime you run a signal into the FM tuner of the radio you're gonna see a fair reduction of frequency response.

If you want all of your $10.00 a month's worth out of your sat tuner, you need to go with a direct input, else the BEST it's ever going to sound like is a good FM radio station. And with the FCC mandates on modulator output you might well not even get that good of performance.

You could buy the portable unit, and just get the Jazzy Aux input. I have the Jazzy iPod hookup and it's worked very well.

I agree with the comment that FM Transmitters suck.

looks good, I'll probably do that.

I could build that thing myself. 4 caps and 2 resistors, maybe an IC somewhere? $58?
