Default Top gear - 2K rpm 65~70 Mph

Hello

Hello

Unlike most of the members here , who want closer ratio gears, I would like find a gear that would help me with Hwy cruising. wider more economical gears. Be it a 6 speed swap with a new rear diff, or what i would love is to have a rear diff like the trucks do with high and low, but i know that would be impossible with our awd system

Anyways,,, what would need to be done to have 2000 rpms at 65~70 mph. and no im not going to put 30" rims :P

2005 wagon 235 whp & tq 5speed.

Your help and comments are Very much appreciated

So i have found out that the STI 6 Speed gears are lower and would net a higher RPM at 70 MPH.

some great info found here
http://rallispec.com/Subaru%20Gear%20Chart.htm

therefore a 6speed swap for stock sti would not be beneficial.

BUT . also i have read that the 07 wrx 5th gear may be different than the others,

2007
1st - 3.636
2nd - 2.235 < changed
3rd - 1.521 < changed
4th - 1.137 < changed
5th - 0.971
6th - 0.756

still same final ...

6 spd manual, spec.B only
1st 3.636
2nd 2.235
3rd 1.521
4th 1.137
5th 0.891
6th 0.707
final 3.454

here are better numbers.

so the question now would be, Is it posible to put the 6th gear here in place of my 5th ? or do i have to have a complete swap ?

also found that the " Forester STI tranny is taching a lowly 2598 @70mph in 6th." I could guess that this is the same as the spec b or close to it.
