Default HIGH+LOW on after Foglight mod, no fog lights (HELP?)

Hi,
Following http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=439025
and http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1022

I followed the procedure as outlined and it worked correctly, but as I was closing things up after testing i snagged the RED-Green wire (the harness/cut that was 'left' as from the back of the relay).

NOW, after the snag ofo the RG wire... I'm getting:

1) as modified:
-- Orange tapped, connected to R/G on relay
-- R/G on switch spliced to R/G on relay (essentially, connected to orange)
-- YG on switch attached to ground
-- RG and YG from the harness end of the switch were capped and left disconnected

--> Headlights work, DRLs work, High beams work.
--> Pressing FOG light switch blows 20A fuse under hood, Marker lights turn off.

2) returned to stock:
--> Pressing FOG light switch turns on high-beam filament (low beam filament does not turn off)

... fog lights do not turn on in any condition, always something else happens.

So, I'm just wondering where that red/green wire terminates and what a possible snag could have caused me. ie: if it's grounded, then what.
I'm pulling apart my dash to trace it out .... aaah the mess.

Many thanks

to avoid the scoobymods login for unregistered members, the MODIFIED configuration is as follows:

It was the Red-Green wire on the relay side that was snagged and pulled.
*note* the above image says "Green, Red Stripe", but it is the "Red, Green Strip" wire that is to be changed... (or so all other docs say)

What model year? Any prior wiring modifications? What do you mean by marker lights? - exterior parking lights, or interior illumination?

You most likely shorted the new red/green connection (which would be grounded with fog switch pressed) to positive feed for the foglight relay (red/blue) which would blow the 20A foglight fuse and ground the positive for illumination, possibly blowing illumination fuse as well. Have you checked the colors carefully on the foglight relay and replaced the fuses yet?

Sorry for neglecting some important points.
The car: 2003 Impreza OBS, just the naturally aspirated little guy.

Previous electrical mods... none... well, disconnect of 'press clutch to start', and the 'key is in the ignition' chime. Both were done by either continual connect or disconnect (respectively).

I have verified that I am using the right wires (have all the service manuals and respective wiring diagrams).

I suspect that there is a short in the RG connector somewhere caused by the snag.

The marker lights I refer to are the ones outside. Lights inside work but console (speedo) lights go away when the fuse is blown.

I don't have time to dive into it until Thursday, but if I can't figure out what is causing that behavior (and by 'what', i mean, conceptually... what wire is shorted and what it's shorted to) the I'll be ripping my dash apart to find if something is unplugged in the wiring abyss there somewhere.

What is the fuse number of the fuse that is blowing out? It sounds like the fod light circuit is crossed with the marker lights somehow.

It's the 20A fuse labeled "LIGHTING SW"

From the wiring diagram, I would presume it's #7. Though looking around quite a bit I didn't see any numbers or another descriptor aside from the one above.

Ok. Fuse #7 supplies power to the parking lights through the Tail & Illumination relay. There is a white/red wire between the fuse and the relay. If the lights are off and the fuse blows then you need to find the problem on that wire. If the fuse blows only when the tail lights are on then the wire color is blue/red or maybe brown/red.
