Default How to replace broken lawn mower drive cable?

The thing snapped on me this past weekend so I had to finish whatever I had by pushing

Is it relatively easy to replace drive cables? And do you have to buy a cable made for your specific mower or are these universal parts?

If someone can send me some instructions on how to replace them, I'd appreciate it! FYI - I have a John Deere JS65 (side discharge self-propelled mower)

I almost had a heart attack pushing the mower up and down the lawn (slight incline) and it was like 85-87 degrees outside on Saturday! I've been spoiled using self-propelled mowers all my life so pushing it just seemed ridiculous! hahahaha

That's funny, I'm the opposite. In fact our present mower has this feature and I just started using it the last couple weeks.....and we've owned it a few years now.

HAHAHA you've had a self-propelled mower and never used it for years until recently?? Kind of like pedaling on a moped
