ttt.
The factory 5-speed transmission is a 50/50 split. The 20kg center differential puts the split at 35/65 i believe.

wrong,

the sti 20kg has a 50/50 torque split. On the dyno we use you can see the torque difference front to rear. you are thinking of the cusco unit.

help me understand a little.....installing this in an 04 WRX (not sti) with an otherwise stock WRX tranny (open front diff, R160 diff in rear, stock WRX gears) will give the rear more power transmitted to it opposed to the current stock power split....specifically, 50/50 split vs whatever the WRX split is?

I'm currently running 320wtq/hp to the wheels.

any negative effects I should know about? This is currently my daily driver, but will be caged next year and turned into a rally car

thx

The center diff is a strange item.

The power differential is the same between the sti 20 kg and the 4 kg of the wrx. The main difference is in the ability to hold power. In real world experience the stock differential will on a high power car, essentially slip, between gear changes. The only thing you can notice inbetween gear changes the car will lag more between transition on boost. The 20kg will make the boost come on quicker because it is able to hold the power with the greater capacity. I also could tell a difference when taking turns fast, it felt like everything was tighter, like the front was actually pulling the car through a turn more.

Thats all i can say about it......these center diffs are still a big mystery to me.

bump still for sale
