Default which alternator for 99 RS

so I've done some search but I don't know what to buy. At checkers they have a couple with lifetime warranty, but I was told that those can last not too long. I also called the local subaru dealer and they sell it for 272, I could get 20% but it's still a lot of money, and they don't take my core in, so no further discount.

any suggestions? would an alternator for a forester work? those are cheaper.
I'd like to spend around $100 including that I return my core. I don't run any electrical equipment that needs extra power. I just have a 6-cd changer and pioneer stereo with regular speakers, no sub, no amp.

click the link in post 2.. all reconned ones are used anyway and both rockauto and maniacelectronics are reconned regarding alternators.. rockauto doesn't seem to give amperage info on all their alts though

is that the same as partsamerica?? i wouldn't trust that stuff.. those reconned ones are not aftermarket, the maniacelectronics are true oem except beefed up.. oem alts are one of those things that last forever, so that's my best advice

yes, I am talking about parts america. they have a couple with lifetime warranty. when you talk about maniacelectronics are you talking about
http://www.maniacelectricmotors.com/? because if I google maniacelectronics nothing comes up.

ohh right, sorry.. my mind must have jumbled up the words.. but ya, that link you just typed is the correct one lol.. i guess if you see a lifetime warranty one that suits your needs, then go for it.. but for purposes beyond oem spec, i'd go to maniacelectricmotors

It usually is a simple fix. Ordering the parts and having it fixed is usually more expensive than getting a rebuilt Kragen/Shucks/Checker unit.

Remember lifetime warranties aren't covering labor. I had to replace 3 bad alternators in a 2 month time on an Acura because of these jokers.
