OK, for all of you who talked with me at Camden, it's definite. I will be moving to Southern NH or Northern MA within the next two months. Works sucks and I have headhunters galore scouting for me. I'll be in the Boston area Thu the 16th through Sun the 19th for interviews and to visit with the family.
Anyway, I'm calling out to all of my Scooby brotheren for help! If anyone out there has leads for uberweenie geeks who are looking for hardcore UNIX or security jobs, please email me at sean@trunkmonkey.com . I'm looking for anything an hour north of the NH/MA border (driving) or an hour south of the NH/MA border (driving or commuter rail). Commuter rail would be best, but I happily drove from Lawrence to Quincy every day when I was in Boston in 1997. But yeah, please toss leads my way. My web site is http://www.shn.nu/resume.html for a basic resume and http://www.shn.nu/resumefull.html for the full resume (not linked). Plus, I don't want to come off holier than thou, but I'm only entertaining offers where base plus benefits plus profit sharing is more than $100k. Stay on target...almost there... Oh, and I'll be at F1 Boston with my parents sometime on the 17th or 18th...what's the deal there? Do you just show up or do you need to make reservations?

As i am a lowly 21 year old just starting myself in the industry (help desk), i can't do much in terms of jobs. as for F1 on the other hand, all you have to do is show up. if it's on a weekday, let me know, i work about 2 miles down the road. maybe we can meet up or something. and hey, sounds like you're moving to my neck of the woods, good ol' north shore! ahhh.... oh, and good luck on the job thing

You can just show up at F1 Boston, just call them and check the times they're open and make sure there's no league at that time. Im sure you'll have no problem finding a job here. Lots of tech jobs

Sean,
There quite a few MIT startup companies in Cambridge, MA that are looking for sysadmins. I don't know if you are willing to swap base salary for stock options, but even so, some of them are definitely fairly lucrative if you have the right set of skills. Poke through the MIT web page. I'm sure you'll find a list of companies spun out by graduate students or professors - if not, contact me personally. It's too bad you're only looking now - I only just recently participated in the hiring of a senior UNIX sysadmin here for my lab (Compaq Corporate Research). In any case, best of luck, welcome (back) to Boston/NH. -Edwin |

I'll be going into Active IQ Technologies to build Linux network appliances. Woohoo! Yeah, I just wanted to have my contract in-hand (showed up via FedEx) before I jinxed myself by saying the name.

Sheesh. I'm getting out of my company in Bedford, well, TODAY as a matter of fact. I'm handing them my walking papers before I leave for a rave in Maine that I'm helping run. I'm underpaid, overworked and completley unappreciated. So I'm leaving. Anyone need a very experienced NT admin?

Too bad raves are over run by stupid druggies now. They used to be so much better when there was little to no drugs there. Funny were talking about this, cause I just wathced that "My life on Ecstasy" show on MTV last night. Not a smart persons drug.
