Default HID's in eBay projectors 2000 RS

Alright, I have the notorious eBay projectors for my 2000 RS. I LOVE THEM. I really want to put HID's in them. My main goal is to have HID's in my headlights, along with HID's for my fogs also.

I want to do this right. I'd like to have 4300k for the headlights and maybe 3000k for the fogs.

I have these:

They're advertised on eBay with having HID's for another $100 or so. What do I need to make this happen?

I've had the halogen projectors on for more then a year now, they work BETTER then my stock headlights.

Your post was completely useless to me.

ok, then i will try to make it more useful for ya... putting an HID kit in those lights will make it much much worse.

those projectors were designed for halogen bulbs. they are not even great halogen projectors. putting hid capsules in them will cause tons of glare, poor cutoff, and your beam width and intensity will not be great.

also, cheap ebay HID kits just dont last a long time. i had a set, a few years ago, and i had to get multiple ballast and bulb replacements. the bubs tend to be different colors, the ballasts can fry rather quickly, and the parts are normally just cheap chinese crap.

sorry i came off in a bad tone on my last post. its just that we get the "this HID kit rocks" or "should i get XXX HID kit?" questions all the time. everyone gets offended when the lighting guru's say NO, HID kits are garbage.

please take my advice. I and others (who will chime in soon) have spent countless hours researching this stuff. i spent many sleepless nights working on my projector retrofit, so that i could have HIDs and not blind people on the road. and for people to come on these threads trying to defend hid kits is a big d*ck slap across our faces. we did the research, and the noobs didnt. so please take the advice. thanks

Jdubya is right, throwing HID bulbs into projectors meant for halogen bulbs will yield pretty poor results, especially in a cheap setup from Ebay. Your best bet would be to take those Ebay headlights and retrofit some actual HID projectors in there. It sounds complicated but if you do a little research, you can build a really nice retrofit.

Those headlights are begging for some real projectors in them. Decent hid projectors can be had for 100 bucks now, is that really too much?

Or get some e55 or e46 projectors, they seem to go for 50-75 now and will still blow away halogen projectors. And doing that will give you time to open it up and paint the angel eyes black

exactly.. if the overall fitment of the whole headlight is ok, just pull out the old projectors and get some new ones in there
