Default Low Gas Light Question

My gas gauge in my car is not accurate and i normally run until i see its around 1/2 then i fill up. My question is since my gauge/sending unit is not accurate will my low gas light still be accurate?

It's independent as far as I can tell, from the gas guage itself - whether it's 100% accurate, I don't know, but it gives you a good idea.

Owned. Mine comes on (steadily) a good 20 miles before it dies. i've never actually had it die, but have got very close once before. The rule apparently (for JDM) is 35km's

I believe mine is burnt out. I've run close to completely empty (based on how much the fill was) and I've only seen it once.

Ouch you guys! I ran mine for a good 40 miles and still had 2 gallons of gas left in the tank when I filled up.

Mine works fine, use it on every tankful. never have run out and basically have 2 to 2.5 gal left when it comes on.

Peace,

Greg

when mine comes on and stays on, i've got about 2.5 gallons left. it's been the same for over 9 years now, regardless of what the guage reads, and the mileage is at 224K. and the guage has been all over the place during my ownership. speaking of mileage, after years of getting between 28 and 25 mpg, i've been averaging 31 mpg over the last 5 fill-ups. all that, and with ethanol-laced fuel. i guess driving 55 max does improve mileage . last week, i got the best single tank mileage/distance i've ever had in this car - 452 miles at 14.0 gallons, which was a hair over 32 mpg. all this with my passenger rear caliper dragging. maybe i should fix that, and i could get 33 ?

730km's on a tank of gas? DAMN! How the hell did you manage that!? You secretly running a 1.8L in that legacy of yours? I'm very lucky if i get close to 500km's on about 50 Litres of petrol (310 miles, on 13.2 gal)... Mind you, i have a VF39

Is your car a stick or automatic?

for the last 2 months, i've kept the car at 55-60 on the interstate, and have minimized "town" driving. so, i've been getting good mileage, at least relative to what i was getting for years in the same car.
