Default do all wrx's suck in the rain or just mine

so i just bought my first wrx 2 weeks ago, and i've noticed that it sucks to drive my car in the rain...i hydroplane almost every time i turn the car...so my question is, is it just the tires that the dealership put on the car, or is this a common thing with these cars...cause right now i would rather drive my pos truck, than my wrx when it rains

You should:

- Check tire pressure (may be too light of psi), and tread
- Check the suspension for upgrades and see if they are installed correctly
- Get alignment

What mods have been done to it? What tires?
I also agree they could be at the wrong psi. Not too mention you could have a larger rear sway and not even know it.

A swaybar won't make you hydroplane.

I bet he has the original tires on there.

I feel more confident in the rain in my Suby than in any other car I've ever driven.

An improper size/adjustment setting would.

It's your car.

On even my OEM Bridgestones, my WRX wagon (9-2x) is stable in severe weather.

On the way home from the dealership, I drove four hours in torrential rains, and was pasisng SUVs and trucks like they were standing still.

Mastercrap tires are from SEARS, and they suck.

We have a winner!

I'd bet you could put those tires on anything and it would suck in the rain.

My impression to the title, . Yeah man, these things rock the casbah in wet conditions but ANY car is only as good as it's tires. Like mentioned above, make sure they're not shyte tires and that your pressures are good. There is NO reason you should be hydroplaning unless you are taking 90 degree turns @ 60mph or trying to drive across a swimming pool.

EDIT: just saw the tires you have..... yup! BINGO! Get some quality rubber and enjoy that thing man.

you bought the car from them...maybe you shoulda taken a look at the tires before you handed over the money. No one held a gun to your head and said "buy this car"

probably the tires... but still don't expect AWD to make up for going into a corner too hot in the rain... you WILL understeer. AWD does not mean we can drive in the wet like we can in the dry.

Tires, tires, tires, even when I've been on really worn, but a good tire, the car is incredible in the rain. There's tons to choose from but a good all around performance tire, except snow and ice, are the Toyo Proxes 4...low road noise and decent tread wear.
When I first bought my car I was back and forth to work at 75mph in complete down pours and the car didnt' hydro at all. I was amazed at the awd, even more so when I ended checking my tires and they were well past the wear mark.

..but it'll make you oversteer (or if it is lacking one understeer) and by the looks of the thread I'd guess either could be mistaken as a hydroplane.
