I am having Ron at raw performance rebuild my stage 2 2.5l because I had some problems. While it is apart I had Ron send the heads out to Jeremy at crucial to get a full P&P, 5 angle valve job, supertech valves(maybe inconel exhaust valves), supertech valve springs, Brian crower stage 2 cams. Jeremy is going to ship the heads back to Ron for reassembly. I also sent him my vf-48 to get ported and polished. I am going to run the vf-48 for a year or so to save up for a sz55 or larger turbo. I know I don't need all of the headwork but I am planning for the future and figured while the car was apart I might as well make it count, so I don't have to have the motor pulled again. I am going to post pictures of the heads and turbo after I get it back. His porter has been porting heads for 36+ years so I have high expectations.
My current engine mods: 2005 wrx with a 2.5l stage 2 raw/axis motor (forged pistons) stock wrx heads(not for long) vf-39 synic equal length header crucial uppipe/38mm tial ewg crucial dp crucial catless midpipe erz catback ssac fmic crucial coated with thermal dispersant coating gimmick crank pulley gimmick afta maf/turbo inlet hose cobb sf intake spec-c tgv deletes 750cc dw injectors gmbcs planned mods while the engine is down piston coating P&P vf-48 APS inlet aps dual vent bov crucial Ported and polished heads supertech valves +1mm supertech springs overkill is the theme. Before the rebuild it made somewhere around 280awhp/340awtrq. I'll dig up the graph. I am hoping for a little bit more next time.

Some pictures of my partly done heads. Crucial Racing has done more work to them since these pictures. More pics to come after the heads are finished.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If anyone steals my car and says that they didn't, all I have to do is take the heads off and show them my name. |

Thats awesome. I'm getting close to starting my own build also, just gathering all the parts first. I plan on porting my heads and getting new cams, don't know which yet, but I already purchased an atp 3076. I also got a used set of 06 heads and a used short block so I can build the whole thing and then drop it in. You might wanna bite the bullet and get the turbo now(or as soon as you can before the swap). Because that vf will be way to small for the engine/porting/cams. I know you know this but once the engine is broke in you're gonna wanna wail on it a little and that turbo's gonna leave you hangin.

That is what they tell me. I am going to try it and see how it does. I am saving for a new gearset before I save for a new turbo though.
If you are in the market for head work pm jeremy at crucial racing. He gave me a killer deal and his porter has been porting heads for 36 years. I was going to wait and save up for Rons top of the line headwork package but jeremy made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Last edited by LoganG1K; 07-18-2008 at 10:13 PM. |

400awhp is gonna get expensive. You are looking at a tranny upgrade. I don't think it is safe to push the stock 2.0L to 400awhp. I would go with a rotated turbo setup right off the bat if I had it to do over again. I am by no means and expert. But I would think you need to get into the motor and get a forged rotating assembly. If you're going to go that far I would just get a 2.5L shortblock with atleast forged pistons. It might even be cheaper because of all of the machine work needed to bring the stock 2.0l short block back up to par. I talked to Ron before I ordered my 2.5l short block about just rebuilding my 2.0l with forged internals and he said it wouldn't be worth it.

Finally got around to uploading some pictures of the headwork that I had done at crucial racing on my wrx. This is a full port and polish and +1mm valves.

What was the benefit of using Crucial vs. just having Ron do the heads?

This car is close to being done! There has been some unforeseen delays and a tuner switch. Instead of open source, I bought an AP and I am going to have Jorge at P&L tune it. I have also added a coolingmist varicool trunk mount meth kit. I am going to run 50/50 meth/water. Anyone want to guess how much power it is gonna make on P&L's dyno?

I wanna try to see what I can get out of the little guy. Plus when I get my next turbo I am not going to mess around so I wanna save up for a new tranny first.

yeah you should pull some great power out of this turbo...you have all the supporting mods for a bigger turbo so im betting you will max it out quickly. this will be a fun setup

so I broke my vf48... what turbo to max out the 750cc injectors with meth? Too poor to upgrade the injectors unless I can find a sweet deal and someone to buy my dw 750cc. So im probably stuck with 750cc worth of injectors.

I know 750s are good for a 20g, but with meth you might be pushing them too far..

Hmm.. I was thinking less detonation, more boost, therefore more fuel.
