Default Will I need new tires? Going 17x8

Hey guys,

I read somewhere that the stock wheels on my 2006 WRX TR are 17x7; I forget where. Is this correct? & I am looking at getting some 17x8 Rota Torques for the wider tire and to help fill out the fenders. I am currently running 215/45/17 tires; and according to http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/faq.php?cID=2 they should fit fine even on a 1 inch wider tire. I know little to nothing about wheels and tires and wanted to make sure everything is in order and that I would not need to buy new tires.

Thanks

You should be okay to run the stock tires on the new wheels at least until you can afford to get some decent rubber on those new wheels.

The stock tires are garbage....good tires are one of the BEST upgrades you can do to your car, way more important than wheels.

They will work, but get good tires when you can.

They would fit, but you are upgrading in the wrong order. Get better tires first, then upgrade to wider wheels when you have the cash. A 225/45-17 will fit great on both.

Thanks guys. I was considering getting new tires anyway, but since they have decent tread on them and its summer; I think I will just wait until winter comes by before upgrading.
