Question No dash and shifter lights and radio has no power

First off, I checked all the fuses...haha.

I just bought this car. The lights on the dash (speedo etc.) do not work at all but the idiot lights do work. The radio is getting no power. The lights that light up the gear your shifter (auto) is in does not work.

I do have the headlights on and I also have that little turny thing that controls the brightness of these lights set to full on.

I would really appreciate any help on this problem.

-Justin

add to the list of non-working lights my running lights.....the front two corner ones and the rear ones that are the same as the brake lights.

sounding like a relay problem, since the front corner lights, rear running lights, dash lights, radio lights ETC all come on together.

My neighbor has a 2000 Impreza wagon with the same problems. We couldn't locate and ground problems so we disconnected the battery for 10 min and hooked it back up and all the lights started working again for about 3 days then they stopped again.

Check the fusible links also for a problem. It is a good idea to check for power getting to the fuses using a test light probe. Just looking at them isn't good enough.

I'm not 100% what fusable links are...Is that the wire based one under the hood?

Also, how do you test the relays.

Thanks for the help - I really appreciate it - Justin
