Default Searched! P0442 code with Rought idle....

Ok i looked through some of the threads on here and replaced a few things. I replaced the purge valve and re-seated the fuel pump gasket(ordered a new one still waiting for it). I think the problem lies with the gasket bc i did my walbro pump install a couple of days before the CEL came on. My problem is that i now have a rough idle ever since the CEL went on.... at slight throttle it bogs as it revs until i pass a certain % of TPS, then it sounds normal again. When i reset the code the TPS is good all the way through but it still idles higher than normal. Will the leak in the gas tank cause erratic idle? Oh and yes i did re-tighten the gas cap haha

P0442 : Evap Leak(small)

Thanks

i had this CEL a while ago. Mine was a pinhole leak in a vacuum hose. If i had to take a guess I'd say you pinched your pump gasket, but the only way to know for sure is to smoke it out.

A loose/faulty gas cap is the main culprit of a P0442, second would be the blue coupling thingy right below the PCV valve. If that doesn't fix it, good luck. That code can be a huge pain in the ass! Many variables. I have been battling one of these off and on for months now.

yea i took a look at the blue T and it was all still attached i took it off and reconnected it just to hahas....

unless the gas cap is busted it cant be that one.... the gas tank gasket is def seated correctly but i ordered a new one anyways.... hopefully tomorrow i will find out if the gasket was the problem or not. I am affraid i think i might have a pin hole leak as well, the problem is i have to find it..... Besides bringing the car to a shop witha smoke machine what other way can i smoke my vac lines?

Thanks.

to be honest, id much rather put that kind of work off on someone else. i wouldnt take it to a dealership, cause they wont fix the leak but replace some other hose (they did that to me once) or tell you you need a new evap canister (i wasnt that stupid). take it to a subaru guy and they'll work it out for like $150-$200
