so my car caught on fire.....

yup....finally got everything back together.....and notice a little fuel leak while cranking the car to get the oil in the turbo before starting....so i tighten up the compression fittings on the fuel rails (other RS-T owners may feel my pain as the stock lines had to be removed to fit inlet hose, and nobody make aftermarket rails for the RS) and im good to go.....im thinking well a ton of fuel just sprayed everywhere so best not to start the car right away....i hop in the moms highlander and go get me a slurpee(from chevron, or as i call it the ron, they have the best slurpees...coke ftmfw!). but anyway, i get back check for leaks again, i figure its been about 30-40 minutes i should be good to go.....

wrong

i take it around the block and start to smell that awful burning smell, so i book it into my driveway, jump out the car and run into garage to grab fire extinguisher, as im runnning back to the car i see flames through the grill...that's not good for anyone....so i straight up dive headfirst onto the carpet(like a ****ing cat)...and do this sort of spin roll move on the ground while pulling the pin out of the extinguisher and spray up the buttom of the engine bay.....

flames are out so i stand up....im bleeding from both my elbows thanks to my little derek jeter move and I look across the street to see my neighbors, who just happen to be chilling in the front yard with their kids, with the most priceless looks on their faces.

turns out header wrap soaks up the fuel and holds it for a long ass time.....no real damage thank god, my timing belt cover got a little melted and deform on the bottom(i started the car and nothing rubs or anything so i think it'll be ok) and the wires to the fan got a little melted.....but all in all it could have been sooo much worse.....



(ps i inhaled a good bit of fire extinguisher.....that junk tastes awful!)

I feel your pain, my passenger side valve cover is black from an oil fire I had when I first got this engine it
Bunch of oil soaked into the header wrap and went up

anyway...i grew a pair and went for a drive....feels awesome...only 9-10 psi right now....but pulls just as hard as squeezing 20psi out of the td04....it also holds boost all the way till redline and gets me fulll boost just over 3000 rpm....best 800$ + 200$(of shafting with no lube courtesy of our fascist gov't) i've ever spent!
