Post Insurance claim questions

ok i was hit on the freeway monday afternnon. I took my car to get an estimate on it. 2 of my rims were bent, and other scratched. I was wondering if the insurance would replace all 4 if they were scratched. And if they dont replace all 4 what can i say to make them? i want to get a new set of rims in place of the ones they are going to replace. Anyone ever do that?

replace all 4 if they were scratched?
Probably. depends on the scratch.
BTW This past winter a curb hit my car, and put about a 6-7 inch scratch on it. In an accident I had a few months latter, they assosiated the rim scratch as part of the accident, and payed me for it.

what can i say to make them?Complain that the car is very new, and that the rims were not damaged before the accident. subtly mention a laywer.

Yes. Me. In the accident I was in it did minor damage to the front fendors and bumper. I took the money, and told them I would fix it myself. They could not have cared less. The adjuster jut me a check on the spot. The more I pointed out the bigger the ckeck got. Make sure they see everything.

I assume you are a claiming aganst the other guys insurance, if so the only thing you may have going for you is if your rims are discontinued. They owe you to be whole again. If you cant get the rims they will have to buy a compairable set of 4. If the give you to much crap talk the the claims manager and be nice and you will most likely get you way. Make sure you have it fixed a a good body shop one that will warranty their work for lifetime.

BTW I work for a body shop as an estimator/manager so I've been dealing with insurance companeys for 13 years.

And unlike Chosenone said dont mention lawyer
it just slows down the claim process and you may not get as much as you like.

Good luck

If 2 were only scratched, they may just give you a cosmetic allowance on them. In other words, they are not under a legal obligation to "replace" & buy you brand new wheels.. Just my 2 cents in handling ins claims for 26 years!
