So I did the Fresh water thing for about year with multiple Cichlids & Phirranas. Started with a 10,20,& 55 I still have the phirranas in my 20g with a one disc fish.
![]() They were Fun but I really liked all the options & cool stuff you could do with saltwater tanks so I was like ahh let me sell off the fresh water stuff & start out small. I got a 8g BioCube and I liked it so much I started buying fish that I didn't have room for. I looked on the craigslist and found a sweet deal on a 65g basic set-up and I've been kind learning from there I currently have clown fish, 2 blennys, 4 damsels, 1 angel, 1 wrasse, 4 anemones, 3 live corals, some snails & blue legged hermit crabs.(I know I have to many fish but I kinda adopted a few) So after getting my tank I bought about 30lbs of Fiji live rock, man that stuff is $$ make sure shop around I could got about 50lbs for what I spent had I shopped online. ![]() ![]() ![]() The tank seemed kinda bare and my goal was to do the reef tank set-up, so I got another 50lbs of the live rock and filled out the tank. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice, so now the tank was finally looking good an full, but it was lacking in color and looked kind of bland. I purchased my anemones and live corals from House of tropicals to put some color in my tank.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So I'm using a 1 marineland emperor 400 filter 1 coralife 65g protein skimmer 2 powerheads 1 200 watt heater 60lbs of live sand 80lbs of live rock |

We have a fighting fish in a bowl that has been alive for almost 2 years which I think has to be a record. He recently went an entire week without food too. Nothing like you guys but thought i'd share...

I'm in PA
That's really nothing compared to a buddy I have. He's got a 50 tank angel fish beeding setup with over 1,000 different angel fish. (his pairs, juvies, and all that). it's really cool Mrs Lotusdrift. Welcome to the very fun and expensive world of reef tanks. luck for you there is lots of people in the HR area and several good places to get fish and corals. My advice is join up at www.reefcentral.com and read up on everything. Personally, I love small tanks and can't wait to see yours. I was gonna get a 29gal biocube, but I got my 50 gal for a lot cheaper. I also advise not getting a job at a pet store that sells saltwater livestock. Your entire check will go right back to them. Here is my dads setup. Its a 175 gallon bow front. He has all sorts of pumps and skimmers in the tank, even small tanks underneath. I will have to get some better pics of it all, but I have a couple old ones.

NiCe!
if those are old ones I'd love to see what it looks like now, how long has he had it up and running for. The tanks underneather are part of his filtration system(but I' guessing you already knew that). |
