Default 5x100 to 5x114 conversion in order to fit bbs on bug-eye

well just wondering, i got some mint sti silver bbs wheels and looking to snap them on the bug-eye

quick questions before i do it up

1)the adapters im getting are about an inch wide to convert the 5x100, how wide will these look with the bbs 17x8 on there

2)anyone got pics of a bug eye with staggered fit bbs wheels (as in the 17x8 plus the 1 inch from the adapter??

3)will it rub fenders if im dropped on tanabe nf210s??

1. that spacer is going to change the offset on those wheels from +53 to +28. not even the 'hella flush' guys on nasioc go that low with offset.

2. how is it going to be staggered if you're going to be using the 25mm spacer on all 4 corners?

3. definitely. with a drop and that low of an offset, you'll definitely need to roll the rear fenders, probably need to pull them out, and get some rear camber bolts.

Hmmm...I like these shoes, and it's such a good deal, but they're too small. Bah! I'll just cut off my toes!

to the op, why not just get 04 sti bbs wheels?
They will fit, but your going to need some camber bolts in the rear. There are many guys running that low of an actual offset, Im running 18x9.5 +40 with a 10mm front spacer. There are others running +22-+29 also. Theres a thread in the members gallery that is stickied just for this.

Do it right and do the conversion kit. 6Gun racing sells it. But if you're going to all that trouble, why not get wheels wider than 8"?
http://www.6gunracing.com/products.asp

Or, just get some 04 STi wheels.

i dont know why ppl r so scared of low offsets. 17x8 +28 is equivalent to 17x9 +40, or 17x8.5 +34 as far as how it sits against the fender, which isnt that hard to fit at all. BUT, if u want less hassle Project Kics makes a 15mm lug conversion spacer that u might want to look into.

but why? He could just get 04 sti wheels or some other 5x100 wheels that he wouldn't need a bolt on spacer for. I see what your saying about the sizing not being that aggressive as far as outer clearance, but it just doesn't make enough sense to run that kind of sizing.

thats the problem with ppl on Nasioc, always questioning ppl's questions rather than answering them. Why would he do that? i dont know and i dont care, all i see is a question and i'll try my best to answer. is that an ideal size? No. would i do the same? No. to me it doesnt make enough sense to run 17x7.5 but i dont go and ask everyone why they didnt get 17x9 instead of a 17x7.5.

Actually I wasn't questioning the OP, just giving a sarcastic response implying he shouldn't do what he's thinking of doing.

Wheel bearings are a PIA to change. Small offsets don't help. We question for a reason...

yeah, you are going to burn up your wheel bearings, suby front's are a notorious weak spot, trade the 114's for 100's, less headaches

Because there is a front and back side to the wheel, so pushing out the front and not having a corresponding increase on the back (like with a 17x9") is what helps kill the bearing....front loading the wheel.

lol, whats going on in here? password:ej20 how old are you?

Like everyone said your best and probably cheapest bet would be to sell the rims on ebay and buy a 5x100 set.....but your probably not going to do that for at least a month or two, because you wont admit you are wrong and should have done more reseach before buying the 5x114.3

That's the difference between wanting to answer a question, and wanting to help somebody. If somebody asked how to disable their wastegate so they could run 30psi of boost on pump gas, would you tell them without letting them know they're gonna blow up their car?

More information is never a bad thing. If he wants, he got all the info he actually needs from the responses here, plus more. Personally, I wouldn't do it, because the price of the wheels (unless they were ridiculously cheap) plus the spacers is bound to be the same or more than getting a set of 04 sti wheels.
