Question What price would a CD have to be for you to buy it again?

Piracy is rampant.
There will always be some who say "I still buy CDs. SUPPORT THE BAND!!!"...
But everyone has stolen music, and many more will say its been years since they've purchased a CD...
There's all sorts of (good, to some) excuses...RIAA cut, bands not making good music anymore, 1 good song per disc, ect ect...

That's not the point of this thread...

The question is, if one of your non-favorite bands (but one you liked), produced a disc, what would it have to cost for you to buy it?

Music sucks these days. But, if there was anything good - $10-$12 would be my limit.

What's on the disc? just audio tracks?
Or is it an enhanced disc with some interactive content?
Anything interesting come with the CD like a poster, or a chance to win tickets to the one of the band's performances?

Serious answer: if it's only a buck or two more than the equivalent mp3 album on Amazon, I'll get the CD (no shipping since I have a Prime membership). That way, I can control the quality of the rip AND it saves me a CD burn.

I agree, that's my way of thinking...
Except, I usually buy the disc used from someone on ebay, or amazon used, or something like that. $5 a disc is pretty average for me.

I just picked up the Kidz in the hall-The in crowd cd on saturday.......11.99. Didnt hurt too bad. and a special order victory records disc set me back 12.99.

I'd say my limit short special edition and bonus stuff would somewhere about that.

i look for good prices though. most are available around 10-12 dollars, and that's reasonable.

I still buy music. Mostly from iTunes, but if I'm somewhere and I see something I want for $10 or less I buy it.

Somewhere in the 5-8 range. Depending on who it was, I've paid ~$25 for a cd of just music from a band I really liked that wasn't easily available here, and it was worth it. But I don't see myself doing that again for a long time.

They should have to pay me to listen to their music. Can't be renting my ears out to everyone!

$10 or so. Hell, cassettes were ~$8 when they went out, so $10 in 2008 for a CD seems fair. Having said that, I'd say 90% of my purchases are mp3's. There aren't many CD's that I'd listen to end-to-end.

For a while I still supported my favorite bands and downloaded the rest. I've finally reached a point where I download everything. I'll use the copout that I go to their concerts and sometimes buy their merch, but yea, crucify me.
