Default Interior lights - What should be lit? (98 OB)

Hi guys, I'm a new owner of a 98 OB Limited and I'm not sure what all should be illuminated on the dash and switches. I did a little bit of searching and it looks like I definitely need to replace the HVAC bulbs. What else do I need?

The only switch below the cluster that is lit is the cruise switch. I do have one green light in the window switches. Should anything else be lit up? Fog light probably? Defrost? How about switches on the center console? Also, does the low fuel warning light come on at start up?

If I need to replace a bunch of bulbs, does anyone know if they are fairly uniform across subarus? It would probably be much cheaper to get a box full of them at a u-pull-it junk yard than to get them from the dealer. Do these commonly go bad?

Thanks.

hopefully you can tell what needs to be lit up. if you do a search you will be able to find a part number for the bulbs from radio shack

EDIT: check out this thread http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...highlight=hvac and follow the scoobymods page to get directions

Do your temperature selector and the fan mode buttons light up? Or is that just ambient light. (Legacy1907)

So the short bulb in this picture is the bulb that provides the backlight to the buttons and selector?

I used the same bulb for everything and it came out just fine. Use the Radio Shack Number, Radio Shack bulb #7219, catalog number 272-1092. They are like .25 a piece maybe.
You can also use this bulb on your buttons like the Rear defroster, Security, Cruise, Foglights. These should light up as well.
