Default STi vs EVO Top Gear

So those of you who know how to use the internet might want to find the new EP of the awesome show Top Gear. They race the evo 10 and the 08 sti around their track...

I watched it earlier today, pretty good test (in addition to a good episode).

I hate to say it, but if I had to choose between the two, I'd take the new Evo. I've liked the new styling since the concept drawings.

However, a limited 07 would still fancy me better than the 08 Evo.

I am just not interested in a hatch, and I have been waiting since 2004 for something more special than just an STi.

I guess I will just keep waiting.

The only thing I was mad about was that they didn't put the 360hp Evo around the test track. At least they did both 300hp versions so it was more fair so the Evo wouldn't win due to the added 60hp. I was also suprised he didn't call the STi and Mazdaspeed3 but that was probably too obvious or expected . Good episode though.

So they were saying the 300 hp evo had a 6spd in it, but the 360hp evo had a 5spd.... is that right????

CORRECT its so you can shift faster to a higher gear.. sike i dont know, but that is what they said maybe they messed up. i knew subaru had it in em to beat the evo it shows the same thing in Best motoring international, i actually heard that subaru wasnt even trying to rival mitsubishi anymore they were going for higher end cars like porshce and bmw or sumthing or maybe theyre trying to be like citroen and staying with the wagon style.

The new Evo would be nice if it weren't such a piece of crap. The problems those guys are having with their cars would drive me bat**** insane in a matter of months. All the hard starting, surging, pedals breaking off, seats falling apart, and now the MR has issues with the SST transmission. Yikes. No thanks. And on top of all that it has almost zero capacity for any kind of daily driving utility. It's better looking than the new STI, but that's all that can be said for it, and frankly they're both fugly as hell. If I were choosing between them I'd get the STI.

About the Evo being a piecs of crap. . . Drive around and look for 10 year old mitsus today. Then tomorrow do the same with Subarus.

Yep, you're probably right.

The shot of the Evo drifting around the STi is pretty cool

BBC America does not air "Real" or Current top gear episodes. You can only watch real, currently airing Top Gear episodes from internet torrents. Check finalgear.com for more.

Obviously I am a bit biased based on my current ownership but you can't deny that even with the 17" base wheels and inferior tires, it still managed to beat both of the Evo's.

I am OK with having what is considered to be the "Ugly" STI and prefer to blend in. I am also OK with everybody thinking that it is a watered down version of its former self. The test results seem to reveal just the opposite.

i do like there version of the stock rims. looks a lot like the older bbs that used to come stock on the sti. anyone know more about them? mainly can the ones that have fit a usdm market 08 sti?

i thought it was strange they compared the evo mr to the base sti then seamed like they complained that the sti didn't have nav at all because the base model they had didn't have it.

i also liked the part right before they show the stig his turn that he said if the subaru wins your going to look like a knob and he does. shows how clueless clarkson is. i was surprised how close there times where though.

I think the 360hp version woulda deffinately beat the 08STi. Both cars are awesome. Id like to own an evo next to park next to the STi
