Default Random ABS, handbrake, battery lights coming on/off

Recently this started to occur where some of my dash lights will go on and off. Namely the ABS, battery and handbrake lights. Sometimes they all go on at once, and off at the sametime. While sometimes they go off one by one or 2 at a time. Also my headlight/centerconsole lights get really dim and they get really bright like if i had HID. Everything feels intack, no struggle when i beat it or drive it normal though. I went by Autozone to test out my battery and alternator everything came up good condition. Any suggestions?

thank you

what kind of a test did they do on the alternator? just a current draw test? and were they able to check it while it was behaving strangely? this sounds like it might be a regulator going bad.

This sounds like intermittent alternator trouble. Don't be surprised if it gets worse and you have to replace the alternator.

yeah, when they tested the alternator and the battery it was just a current draw test, and it seem like it was my alternator, so over time the alternator is just gonna get weaker and weaker and die? should i change this immediately. And if i do change my alternator and the same problem occurs then what might it be?

I recommend you get a remanufactured one that has a lifetime warranty. You should be able to find one at any parts store on search on-line for one.

Before you replace the alternator, check all power points. Check your battery cables, cable to starter, alternator, etc. Check for wearing down, loose terminals, and most importantly corrosion. If it corrosion just clean it off and see if that makes a difference. If no change, time to change alternator like these guys said.

not to knock autozone but the testers they use are pretty much garbage, try calling around where you live to all the diffrent shops to see if they use a E.D.-18 tester. if they do thats who you want to test your batt. tell them to run a full system check. takes like 5 minutes, itll tell you if youve got a bad cell, alt problems, cranking problems, load and no load checks. in the year an a half ive been using it at my shop its almost always caught something wrong if there was. heres what it looks like www.ed18.com

lol i agree with you guys stating that autozone battery test isnt accurate but i ll try the ED 18 since interstate batteries headquarter is only a mile away from where i am, i ll go there and check it out.

Okay, finally got the alternator after a week or two of looking for it.

I swaped out the old alternator with the new one. Before i bolted it on completely, we had rotated both of the alternators and felt a major difference in rotation, the one i order was a bit older looking but the rotation had spinned alot faster. After an hour of test driving, all my lights such as ABS, CHECK ENGINE, and Brake lights DIDNOT randomly come on. PROBLEM SOLVED. Also my Airconditioning got alot stronger.
