I spent all of yesterday researching what turbo to go with, and I got it down to three. I would like to hear what you all think about what I should get to replace the 20G.
This is on a hybrid, 2.5 block with 2.0 heads. I have a FMIC, 820cc injectors, 255lph fuel pump, and will be keeping the EWG. I was putting down 350whp on the 20G and would like to get 400whp or at least fairly close to it with what ever I go with next. What is everyone's thoughts on: SZ49, Dom3, or APS SR56. The SZ49 has free rebuilds for life, the Dom3 has a lifetime warranty, and the SR56 is used, but a little bigger, and less money. I am narrowed down to these three, so you can tell me to get a rotated gigantic turbo, but it will fall on deaf ears. I need to stay with something stock location, and I don't want a Green. Lets hear what you think!

At over $250 more than the others, I was able to eliminate it from my list.

What kind of power are you making with the sz49? On what motor setup?

NEVER buy a used turbo! Its like russian roulette. Hard to go wrong with deadbolt. Me personally i would save for one more month and go with the 30r

If you can buy a used turbo for $100 and get it rebuilt for $300 and essentially have a brand new turbo I would never consider that a bad deal unless there is wheel or housing damage.

Just curious why not the green? especially the hta green? Bigger turbo than the 20g and meth FTW to reach that 400whp. not sure if it can be done easily without it.

I have heard a lot of bad things about the Green and the customer service that comes with them. I did start looking at it again a little, but the voice in the back of my head said no. Can't put my finger on it, but there is something about it that makes me not like them. I have always been one to avoid what the croud tends to choose. That is why I choose my Impreza RS in 1999.
I ended up ordering a Blouch Dom 3 earlier today. Should do quite a bit better than I was on the 20G, and with meth, should easily get over 400. Last edited by WhiteH2O; 07-03-2008 at 11:21 AM. |

From what I've heard the Dom 3 is an excellent turbo. I'm eyeballing the ATP 3076 which is the same turbo with a bigger hotside. I felt the bigger hotside justified the extra price.

Take the APS off your list. Good looking turbo with subpar results.
If you're going to consider the SZ49, look at the FP Green and Element GT49. |

^^^ My tuner told me to avoid the APS also. He said either a green or the Dom 3. Went with the Dom 3.
