Default Continental Extreme Contact opinions

I have a one tire showing major wear and am looking to replace all 4. Anyone on here have any opinions on the Conti Extreme Contact? It seems to have decent reviews on tirerack and great scores for its price.

Very popular tire in our region and you'll probably find several threads relating to that with a quick search.

I have a set on my Impreza now that I somehow have managed to get 43k miles on and will probably replace late this year or in the spring after the snow. They excel in many areas, but my number one complaint is the noise after they wear a fair amount. They also seem to have decent rolling resistance too as I'm averaging 27-29mpg in my TS using 205/55/16 size. Hydroplaning resistance and wet traction are what keep bringing me back to them.

Have a set on my Leggy. Love 'em!

They replaced BFG G-force sports and only lack sidewall stiffness in comparison. The Contis are much better in the wet and are super quiet.

I had them. Great traction, great reduction in noise but the sidewalls are too soft.

I had the Dunlop Sport A2 before them and switched back once the Contis wore out.

i have had 2 sets of these. on 2 cars .. (the WRX and now the STi)

I used them on cheap ASA wheels as an all-season/drive to event tire.

they wear like iron, and are much better in the snow than how they're rated.

decent for sun, rain, or snow. not great on ice, but it doesn't have a snowflake rating. you should be fine with these in MD.

Check them out from tirerack site.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ExtremeContact

It's pretty light in weight, but has very soft sidewall.

I had them. You have to run the pressure high to make up for the soft sidewall. I ran 45PSI all the way around in 225/45R17 and 225/50R16 sizes..

How long did those puppies last you with the pressure that high?

Wow old thread.

The 225/45R17 I sold after 5000 miles..dont know what ended up happening to them.

The 225/50R16 I ran for 10000 miles, and sold them to a friend and he has around 10000 on them and they have good tread left.

The CECs were great in the snow..however, they are bad on ice.
