Default 04 Sti HIDs into Prodrive Dual Beams?

I have an 04 Sti and it is having a front end change to 02-03. I currently have a set of Prodrive headlights that are non HIDs. Does anyone know if the 04 Sti lighting can be retrofitted to the Prodrive housings? I see that many people modify their lights and have much more experience with the lighting, so any opinions suggestions related to my question? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the Prodrives are H7 projectors (been a while since I saw them). If so, it is possible to use D2-based HID bulbs in them directly with centering adapters to locate them properly. However, the STi HIDs are reflectors so the bulbs are D2R, for projectors the correct type is D2S. D2R's have a mask on the side of the bulb to reduce glare from the reflectors, and in a projector the mask will reduce the light output somewhat.
Even with D2S bulbs, the results won't be the same as having true HID projectors.
Also, the STi light assemblies have the ignitors built into them so you can't just take the ballasts out and use them directly in another application.
It's probably easier to use the Prodrives as-is, and maybe get some upgraded high-efficacy bulbs for them. With the right setup, and maybe a wiring upgrade as well (direct grounding/relays) the results may be quite good.

Thank you. I read the "STICKY" (FAQs) and your write up also. I will use the information and try to get some local assistance with the project. I may just sell the Sti factory lights which are mint with 11k and work with what I have.

I think that is the best way to go, you'll get some $$ out of the STi lights whereas if you gutted them they'd be worth nothing to anyone afterward. As I said I think you can get some good results with the Prodrives without going HID.
