Default Air Bag Light Stuck On!!

I searched this and was unable to find the information that I was looking for. My airbag light on my instrument cluster is stuck on. I can't figure why this is happening. I just turned my car on recently and the airbag light is now on. What could cause this and how can/may I be able to fix it? Thanks.

It's broken and needs to be repaired. You probably need to take it to someone qualified so, an accidential deployment doesn't kill you.

They ought to be able to pull codes and figure out what's wrong.

'04 WRX should have the side airbags in the seats (if my '03 has 'em, right?). I'd look around there to see if they haven't come unplugged or the wires cut.

I checked the wires under the seats and they look fine, no damage at all. I plugged in my acessport and it didn't find any codes. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

The SRS computer is completely seperate from the ECU. As already stated once, you need to have that looked at by a professional that is qualified. The SRS system is definitely not something to dork around with.

The airbag light tends to go off in my '04 as well. It only happens when the passenger seat is moved. Shaking the yellow-sheathed airbag wires under the seat corrects the issue. I'm not sure if the cable snagged at some point or if a wire broke from too much repetitive movement--they look physically fine as well.

It might be a good place to check. Anything more serious and I'd suggest a professional.

Find the yellow connectors under both front seats. Smoosh them together really tight 2-3 times. This will probably fix the problem. I do this 1-2 times a year when my airbag light comes on. I think the connectors have too much dielectric grease in them, but it's never annoyed me enough to find out the root cause.

It's crazy how many people have issues on the 04's with the Airbag light. Subaru needs to review the service reports from the dealers and assess how many people have brought their car in for this issue.

I had this too, and I drove around with it for like 4 weeks, constantly checking the plugs. Finally I got sick of it and took it to the dealer. They said when they turned the car on, the light was not on, and no codes came up with the reader, so they gave me the car back with no charge. That was like a year ago and it hasn't come on since. I think you need to take it to the dealer and then have nothing light up and look like a moron for it to be go away.
