Default where to get a great deal on a *cough* Chevy Avalanche?

I'm in the likes of "the poser" in the sense of looking for a truck.

The Lexus has been turned to stock and is sitting FS on the Gillman SW Subaru lot.

Some of you know about this, most do not. I figure now is the best time to get a "deal" on a gas guzzler SUV/truck. The Avalanche fits my needs as having a covered bed and still have a luxurious interior (NAV, DVD, camera, etc...) ...and it can TOW!!

So, ....any members here have any family or friends at a local Chevy dealership?

Greg

Sre you mainly getting for towing? Why not make a lowball offer on a 3-4 year old pickup of your chossing? I can't see you driving a pickup as your daily nice car.

I thought about that, but then I'd rather have something bigger than the IS as well. The thought of 3 cars is a bit hard too. I really like all the room inside the Avalanche (room for 4 in the back, nice and rommy in the front). I think as long as it has the ammenities (most) of the Lexus, I coulf get used to it. The towing is a definate. So far this year, i've taken both cars to shows, (1) to haul what won't fit in the S2k, (2) b/c it was a show car too (3) it was nice to have a vehicle to "chill" in and watch movies w/ AC while sitting at an all day car show. Another part of the problem, ...I don't need to be dumping money into two cars. Obviously, there are cheaper alternatives, but who am I to go cheap.

There's more to it, and nothing's 100% yet, ...but it's damn close. ONce my mind gets set on something I try and make it happen. I've already found a trailer for the S2k.

I could just as easily get back into another STI, or an EVO X, or a BMW x35i, ...but that leads me into more modding territory. I haven't had a truck since high school. It could be fun.

most dealerships are offering about 12-15k off sticker (this includes rebates tho) and it might be a good time to LEASE. from what i understand, the banks are still getting 'old' info on the residuals because they cant update the books fast enough, so if you lease, youre stilling getting a decent residual and the bank gets hosed in 2-3 years. not you.

I could most likely help you out. I have a dealers license and spend a lot of time at the auctions, and right now all the dealers are dumping trucks/suv's like they were going out of style. Just send me a PM with the specs you want (color etc), and I will do a nationwide search for you.

all you have to do is look at consumer reports "ratings" for the avalanche and it should be a no brainer.

i would look for something else. how much do you need to tow?

cant believe you got rid of the lexus.

Last September when i went to Nopi Nationals in Atlanta, I borrowed a friends 07 Avalanche, we towed a 3500lb solid steel trailer with my S2k on it with no problem, ...it was so easy at times I forgot I was even towing, ...and this was just using the trailers surge brakes. I liked everything about the Avalanche; one, for the fact it wasn't a "pick-up". Amber (remember the widebody STI) towed her car in a 22ft aluminum enclosed trailer with us using a new Tundra, they got 8mpg, while we got 11.3 in the Chevy. Both comapnies are having problems selling them right now, ...and yes, I know the Tundra wil hold it value (better) than the Chevy, but again, ...I like the design of the Chevy better.

For those of you that know me well, you'll notice I tend to get bored after a couple years of the same car. Even after I dropped a few grand to "update" the Lexus, i've done all I wanted to it. So, it's time to move on. I will definately miss it. The Lexus was without a doubt, the "nicest" car i've ever owned. Maybe one day again.

+another Tundra

My second choice would be anything but the Avalanche!

(OK, I take that back... An Aztek would be worse.)

EDIT: You can't compare MPGs between towing an open and closed trailer.

Well, I do owe it to myself to go look closer at them. I just visited the website ans wasn't thrilled. But nothign wrong with taking a test drive and a close inspection.

What else is there that can easily tow 6000+lbs that still has refinement?

But you can camp in the back of an Aztek. Or as I call it, passing out drunk in a bar's parking lot.

Actually which tundra was it? the one with the iforce and bigger engine (V8 5.7) actually gets better millage than the tundra with the smaller engine's when it comes to pulling things. my brother has one and he pulled a 27ft cabin boat and got 12mpg, but it was generally flat an mostly highway though. i guess since it doesnt have to work as hard to get off the line makes it get more millage under load. he was pulling it like nothing other than hard crosswinds he said he couldnt tell it was there. but ithink you should be able to find a good deal on a truck anywhere with the way things going lol

Ninja edit- USED car lots look like truck lots nowadays.

There isn't? Sales down 19% in one month and having their stock reduced to "junk" status? I wouldn't buy a Chevy now.
