Default What model Subaru is it?

I saw a very small Subaru on the highway the other day and can't remember what the model was. It was the size of a Festiva [maybe even smaller] but was not a hatchback. I would guess it was from the 90's or so. The model's name had like 3 digits. Some letter/number combo or something. I can't remember it, but I have seen one here and there before.

Anyone know what it was?

It looked like it would get killer gas mileage!

No, but it might have had an X as one of the digits I think. It's a goofy looking little sedan. Not a Justy, but just as small. It had a very short wheelbase. I don't have pics. I am doing a google search but so far I can't find it.

Heres a pic of the DL, looks kinda like a Mazda RX2 or 3.

Definately not the R1. This car has a much flatter hood and the greenhouse sticks up pretty high. Damn, I'm pretty sure it was Subaru. I'm starting to doubt myself now. Perhaps it might have been a Canadian only model? I am only three hours from Montreal.

^^^ what he said.

I passed an older lady - 60's at least - tooling along 95 northbound a couple months ago in a seemingly pristine white on red (half and half paint scheme - like the above but the red below carried up higher on the doors - odd, but looked original). Did a triple take, and brought a smile to my face. I used to see them in W. PA as a kid, which is still full of Subies, but hadn't seen one in person for probably ~20 years.

That car is sweet. I dislike those pop up headlights but other than that I would totally drive that car!

Ah, the pre-SVX. I don't think I've seen one more than a handful of times. Cool looking coupe.

My friend had an XT when I was in high school in '87. The interiors of those were really bizarre:

My guess is that it was an XT. Here's a good shot of the rear:
