Question where should i go for 30000 mile service

Okay, I just passed 30000 and that means its time for some service. I've been told to just do this myself and save some money, but I have neither the knowledge nor the resources to take on certain tasks. Anyone know a good place where I can go to get this taken care of?

Go to an "install fest"...There is NO reason to go to a dealer for that! Then you can also learn about your car, which you obviously want to do or you wouldn't be on the "board"

I'll be doing this this sat and bringing it to santa cruz subaru.. although, i do have the 30k coupon that takes care of it. I can do it myself but might as well use my last coupon.

Well yeah. I've been to the installfests, but saturday installs are still on hold (right?). And I know what to do in theory (i've been reading up) but that doesn't mean I feel confident enought to just go out an do it. Of course, I'd love to do most of it at an install fest, but I just haven't heard of any recently.

Also, seeing as how my car is an auto, I need (want?) to get the tranny flushed and refilled with some redline ATF and probably throw a tranny cooler on too.

And what's this about a coupon for Santa Cruz Subaru?

YES!! do a tranny flush!! and with redline.. you WILL be happy afterwards. you can install a cooler at the same time too that way you save time since the hose will probably off anyways. the coupons i have are from subaru when i bought my car and can be used at any subaru dealer. that maintenance plan thingy... i didn't really need it but oh well.

Well, I just got off the phone with Santa Cruz Subaru and they want $266 for the 15k mile checkup. That's really pricey for what amounts to mainly and engine and transmission oil change and a new air filter. They check out all kinds of other things on the car, but I don't think that's worth the extra dough.

I may go through them though, just to have a relationship with a dealer/service dept. that is mod/warranty friendly (at least from what I've heard so far).

I just want to point out that I'm not slamming Santa Cruz Subaru in any way. They offer the same 15k service as other dealers at a competitive price. Bruce is very helpful and friendly if you call him up and have questions. I will be using them for my service intervals.
