Default Little help on cruise control wiring....diagram anyone?

Hey all,

so I seem to have lost my $10 ebay WRX manual CD.....dammit!!

can anyone tell me how the cruise control works? I've taken it apart....can't see which wires do what.....I assume 12v are sent to the control 'stick' and when you move it up/down/back it sends that 12 volts to the CC controller to either set/accel/decel/cancel?

can you tell me which colored wires do which? I only need to know which wire is the 'set' one.

TIA.

Looking at some data it shows the SET contact is tied to a light green/blk wire that goes to pin 10 on the cruise control module. The other side of the switch contact ties to power for the horn relay via a red/grn wire.

hmmmm, thx.

I have a green wire w/red stripe = 12v (confirmed)

then:
Black wire
Black wire with white stripe
White wire.

so maybe the colors are a little different, but I assume the black/white wire is the 'set' wire? sounds like it....I'll do a little test wire up and see if that works. thx.

oh......so what I"m doing....pulled my oem wheel off (cruise control and horn stopped working) and replaced it with a sparco wheel. re-wiring the horn is easy, but now I want to rig a button on the wheel that will 'set' the cruise. That's all I need.....don't need the other 'cruise' functions...just need to set it.

any recommendations on how to set that up? 12v power to the button.....button return wire goes to the 'set' wire?

You will need a momentary switch tied between power and the SET wire. You may be able to trace the wire back to the module. My info shows pin 10 is the SET wire.

got it to work!! Thanks Cougar4.....very fun to control my CC from my new sparco steering wheel. cheezy....but fun

for reference....it was the black wire with white stripe....this is the wire coming out of the dash and BEFORE it goes into the steering wheel. interesting that the wire colors straight out of the dashboard are not the same color as the wires actually inside the steering wheel.
