Default Aggressive STI fitment

Ok, total nube when it comes to wheels and looking for some advice. Yes, i did a quick search, but the only thing that comes up are pics of nice rides with no advice. I'm just looking to get 1 place to compile all the info to make a decision on what wheels i should be looking for.

I've got an 07 STi and i know the bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3. I know i need wheels that will clear the Brembos. What offset should i be looking for? I understand that going to a bigger wheel decreasing braking and all that crap, but frankly i like the look. I'm pretty sure i can do an 18, but what about a 19 without rolling my fenders? I've also heard that I should be looking for 8.5, but what's the benefit to going to an 8 or a 9?

Lastly, if i get bigger wheels, i don't want the overall ride height to increase, so without getting pinks or something comparable, should i look to get a smaller tire? How can you determine what size tire will fit on a rim and what will make it look more aggressive?

I'm just looking for a little help or someone who knows a good site that'll give me some more basic info than the sticky's or what my searches have been turning up. Thanks.

So what are the pros/cons of a wider tire and a bigger wheel on a smaller tire?
