you need to sell the other wrx motor and buy a sti motor. its not impossible but it is harder and more money to get the 2.0 to 400hp than getting the ej257 (sti motor) to those numbers. you could also buy the ej257 shortblock from subaru and then take your wrx heads and make a hybrid. 400hp on a hybrid is cake.

maybe i didnt stress how hard 400whp is on a 2.0L. its impossible with bolt ons, you'll need so much bottom end and head work that the 2.5 sti motor will seem like micky'ds compared to the plate your about to pay for .

and when all is said and done your 400whp 2.0l motor will get walked on by and 320whp evo/sti out there(or and 290whp srt-4 ouch!!!)

basically to break it down for you i'm saying the 2.0l is $h1t and your saying you want a really nice piece of $h1t.

Sorry but I'd love to see a 320whp STI walk a 400WHP 2.0...

300lbs of weight.. 2.5L May have the torque of a 400whp 2.0 but with an equivalent trans (which would be an absolute must for 400whp) the 2.0 is still going to walk away from that 2.5...

have you never seen the ausi and euro drag races? they have many of their 2.0 sti's in the high 380's and and 400's but the torque and SPOOL TIME is so much better on a 2.5, that the 2.0 just cant compete at those numbers.

just as an example a 2.0 with a gt35r and 50/50 meth can make 415 whp on a 4th gear dyno pull. but in first gear it make 9 psi, 2nd it make 14.3 and 3rd it hits 17, and 4th it finally makes 23 psi.

so the amount of load/exhaust gases needed for a 2.0 to spool a turbo large enough to make 400whp isn't going to make almost any power down the strip (or any where else, except a dyno).

and the biggest difference is the spool time. you'll start making boost (1 psi) at 5500rpms and a leaned out tune. you can expect to hit full spool at 6800rpms(max power). so that will be one big thrill for 1300rpms.

i hope you can see how your wrong now. a fast 400whp 2.0 is a pipe dream.

but with enough money you can make anything fast... 2.2 stroker, gt35r, nos, cams, p & p the heads, forged the bottom, lighten crank, flywheel and drive shaft, race fuel, and more nos. you will have a fast $20k 2.2l made from a 2.0l. or you could spend 7k and have a 400whp 2.5 hybrid.
