Default Is my router dead-dead, or just....mostly...dead

Away on vacation for a week, come home and find that the house had lost power at some point. No biggie, everything seemed ok now. I go to check email, and realize I have no wi-fi. I go to check modem/router, and find a working modem and a motionless, lifeless, light-less router. Everything's still all plugged in to the same surge protector, and the other things (modem, small lamp, blackberry charger) all work fine. Router has no signs of life. Unplug router and try in different outlet, same result.

What say ye, paperweight, or salvageable?

This is a rhetorical question.

Make and mode?

Most routers can be reset (button on the back) or re-flashed (download firmware from the manufacturers site, follow directions.)

My LInksys router has done that once or twice. Not a big deal really.

I can't even power it on. It's the WRT54GP2.

Go through its pockets and look for loose change.

No power means either the adaptor died (replace at Radioshack) or the unit is dead. If you have a voltage tester, check the adaptor.

Sounds like a new router is in your future.

P.S. Sounds like perhaps a better surge protector is in your future, too?

Everything else plugged into it is fine? Weird?

I already bought a new one at BB, going to pick up. When I get home, though, first thing I'll try is just using the new adapter on the old one. If that works, then I'll find a new adapter and return the new router.
