Gun advocacy group tours Idaho zoo while armed

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho members of a group that advocates for the right to openly carry handguns in public are turning heads by touring Zoo Boise while packing guns on their hips.

Ten members of OpenCarry.org were allowed into the zoo Saturday after some initial confusion at the entrance about whether it was legal to bring an unconcealed handgun inside.

Group member Carol Schultz of Nampa says: "Coming to the zoo was something we could do together, like any family would."

Schultz says she's never without her handgun that she keeps in a holster attached to a heart-studded belt.

Zoo visitor Alex Lundgren of Boise questioned the group's decision to bring firearms.

He says: "Legal and appropriate are two different things."

I wish the word "appropriate" could be stricken from the English language. At the very least, no real man should ever use it.

Yeah, the Bonaparte family.

"Hey Carol, check out the Impalla."
"What's an Impalla?"
"It's a small hooved mammal, much like a deer."
"Did they name the car after one?"
"Yes, I believe so."
"Think you could hit him from here?"
"F***in'-A I could."

sure, you CAN carry your gun at the zoo, but why? you making the zoo a safer place for all of us? Why make a big deal out of being armed at all times?

What's the law in Idaho regarding carrying a weapon on private property? Can you walk into a bank or corner store with a weapon even though the owner has asked you not to?

I love my handguns, but c'mon now... Are people so fearful and insecure that they have to bring it everywhere?

They didn't do that because they're afraid [of physical threats]. It's no different that several homosexual couples making out hot and heavy on the steps of the state capital building. They're not doing it because they're feeling affectionate; they're making a political statement. These guys were basically saying, "Hey! Look at us! We're carrying guns! Don't like it? Tough! You're not the boss of us!"

Actually, I'm quite aware of the publicity stunt.

My comment was more toward gun owners (armed out of fear, not sport) whom would support this.

and yet, dumbass stunts like this will do more to ban open carry than support it.

in any field/situation/organization, whackjobs should NOT do the talking.

Exactly. Haven't they learned anything from the failures of sending butchy lesbians to make out in public???
