Question i just mixed mobil 1 synthetic with valvoline synthetic (both 5w-30)...

is there anything wrong with this???

am i fuxing up my engine???

why did i do such a thing you ask...okay, here it is in a nutshell...i have my dealership do my oil changes and what have you...while i was at the dealership this morning (getting the above done), i realized i only had 3 quarts of mobil 1 synthetic oil...i needed another quart and a half...so the tech guy says run across the street to autozone and get 2 more quarts...which i gladly do...HOWEVER, retarded autozone doesn't have anymore 5w-30 mobil 1 synthetic...only 10w-30, 15w-30, and some eco *****???

thinking one synthetic is as good as another, i just pick up some valvoline 5w-30 synthetic as a substitute...when i get back to the dealership, the tech guy gives me this "bewildered" look...i told hiim they didn't have anymore mobil 1 so i picked up some valvoline instead....he was like, "ohhh kay...it's your car" ????

does this remark portend to some messed up ***** down the road???

anyone????

thx,
db97

So why didn't you just get 5 qt of valvoline instead?

Changing brands and synthetics is fine. You can even change between weights, but YOU SHOULD avoid mixing natural and synthetics together.

Why? Everyone seems to say this but why is it true? Wouldn't that be similar to using a syn/dyno blend oil product? I usually use synthetic myself but in the past in older cars that sometimes ran low on oil I would throw in some dyno oil when I didn't have any synthetic. I always figured that any oil was better than running with no oil at all.

I would not worry toooo much....you probably would have been better off mixing in some 10w30 Mobil1.
