Default How do you know if you have a warrant out for you?

This is a noob question because I grew up in a sheltered white neighborhood, but I watched a few episodes of Cops and was amazed at how many people had warrants out for their arrest for stupid stuff like traffic violations.

How do you know if you have one out for you? If you don't pay a ticket or something, does it end up turning in to a warrant? Do they make an effort to contact you about it at all?

Take Jury duty for example. If you don't report, you'll have a warrant for your arrest. The cops will not actively come after you. The next time a cop stops you for some reason, he'll run you through the computer, and said computer will instruct him to bring you in.

Obviously once you have one you are in trouble, I'm just curious as to how negligent you have to be about the whole situation before a simple offense becomes a warrant for your arrest.

what if you have a friend hack the MDT and make it say that the cop must give you a blow job... will he do it?

Call the local sheriff's office/jail and ask. That's usually where the warrants are held.

And in direct answer to your question, yes, if you don't pay a traffic ticket you'll usually have a warrant issued for you (though not in all states). And yes, sometimes the cops will come try to serve those warrants.

If you dont want jury duty tell them you cant make it because you are going to be sick that day.

60% of the time, it works every time.

I barely have a few traffic tickets on me, so it's nothing I'm personally worried about.

I just am ignorant to the whole process, but it seems like a lot of these people really have no idea they have warrants out for them, which is why I'm asking how you get notified if you do have one.

When you are pulled over for some minor infraction and suddenly find yourself getting pounded in the arse by some sweaty gorilla in a 6x9 cell, you'll know you had a warrant.

I used to get warrants put on my front door on a regular basis....They were all for the kid that used to live here. I would call up the Sherrif's office and let them know that the person didn't live here anymore and asked what I should do with the warrant. They woudl tell me to just throw it away. My address is the last known for the person they were trying to reach and if he didn't change his address then it was no longer thier problem. With as many warrnts as this kid got I no longer felt sorry for him. I do however feel for someone who gets the warrant for that one mistake and it turns into a big pile of pooh.
