Question yet another tire question

I need some new tires for my newly painted RS wheels. I was wondering if someone could recommend some tires.

I would like a wider tire than stock, and stiffer sidewall All season is not important but I would prefer a longer life. Maybe something in the maximum proformance category. thinking maybe 225/50/16, but many people have said there are rubbing issues. Or maybe 215/50/16

Thank You,
Salem

I just got the dunlop z1 star specs in 225/50r16 for my stock wheels (04 wrx). They are realatively inexpensive for what you are getting and you get the $50 rebate. These are some of the best tires I have driven on. They are sticky as hell and are great in turential down pours.

Any rubbing at all? And are you running stock suspension?

I have 225/50-16 Falken Ziex ZE-912 (M+S tires) on RS 6-spoke wheels for my 06 TR. No rubbing. These are pretty good tires, too. Handle well in wet.

I believe 225 rubs on GC (93-01), but not on GD (02-07)... even on wagon. I guess it may also depend on suspension mods & specific tires. Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec is wider than other models in same size.

I'm running the Falken FK452 on my RS/WRX in a 215/45-17 and like them well enough...

I've run 225/45-16 on my 99' RS without issue... no rubbing...

most popular and commonly used size I have seen is the 225/50-16 ... the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec offers tremndous grip and steering response

You haven't been here long enough. You will come to know these springs. I bought them back in my noob days. I just haven't gotten around to changing them out. That is going to change soon though.
