Are you serious? Of course there are all season tires that will fit a 1996 Legacy GT. Visit the tirerack.com link/ad above.

Kumho(and most performance tires) are pretty soft rubber... they don't like being beat on w/ gravel surfaces surfaces... It'll last a while, but they weren't really made for that and they'll get chewed up pretty quick...

In my younger days, I used to beat the crap out of my GTI, then Alltrac (before it was built) on dirt running RE71s. I never has a flat, but the sidewalls sure got bruised up.

Two things to keep in mind:

1) Stiff sidewalls are strong sidewalls. An old-style performance tire with lots of steel belts will hold up well.

2) In dirt, you want a diagonal tread pattern with separate tread blocks. RE71s are good. MXX3s (circumferential grooves, but no diagonals) are bad. In loose gravel you're screwed either way so slow down.

I got cut the sidewall on the inside of my front left RE92 on some fallen rocks today running forest dirt roads. Whoops. They held up like little champs before that. Mud, snow, gravel, they took it all in one day. Now I need to shop for new rubber...
